Beer No.9 - Adnams East Green
Adnams, a brewer I know well, with a relatively new beer. The brewery says, "Sitting on East Green in the coastal town of Southwold, Suffolk...we can create this speciallight golden beer. Enjoy subtle citrus and grassy hop aromas for a dry and refreshing beer with well balanced bitterness."

The Independent says, "Drink beer and save the planet! Adnam's new Suffolk beer uses East Anglian barley and low pesticide Boadicea hops, brewed in an energy efficient brewery with recycled CO2. It has an appealing gold colour with a tangy citrus fruit and grassy aroma and palate."

I say; Mmmm, can saving the planet taste this good?  The smell is a little non descript, but the taste makes up for it. Tangy and lingering, this would be a fine session beer, and I'd imagine that the more you drink, the more the planet is saved!

Beer No.8 - Meantime IPA
Wow, if this beer tastes half as good as it looks, it will be fantastic! The brewery says, "Small batch production and careful research allows us to apply the attention to detail and care we require to produce an authentic India Pale Ale especially for you. Pound after pound of Fuggles and Goldings hops are needed to enable us to achieve the mighty dry hopping rates necessary of the original nineteenth century IPAs to recreate this great beer style. Enjoy with hot food and spicy friends, or vice versa!"

The Inderpendent says, "A brilliant recreation of a real 19th century India Pale Ale that refreshed the Raj. It is big and full-bodied, with a massive attack of peppery hops, citrus fruit and juicy malt, and is bottled live so it can be laid down to mature."

I say; Hops, hops, hops baby! Beautiful, bitter and so zesty, with a smoky undertone, this could be drunk all day if it wasn't so strong (7.5%). There's bags of flavour in here, and the quality is so high. The cost may appear high, but the love that has gone into this beer...

Beer No.7 - St. Austell Clouded Yellow
Not my favourite, Wheat Beer, but let's see how we go! the brewery says, "A deliciously refreshing wheat beer brewed with the rare taste of vanilla, cloves and coriander. This Bavarian inspired wheat beer is named after the much sought after Clouded Yellow butterfly which originates in Europe and migrates to Britain each year. Clouded Yellow is a bottle conditioned British Wheat beer full of character, with gentle spices, tangy wheat, and an absolutety delicious soft vanilla flavour. true to European tradition, this golden beer can be served cloudy by gently swirling the last few inches in the bottle to rouse the natural yeast sediment."

The Independent says, "A Cornish interpretation of a German wheat beer, with the addition of vanilla pods, cloves and coriander, this is crisp and quenching, with powerful hints of banana (from the house yeast) and vanilla on aroma and palate. It's the perfect companion for a curry."

I say; Well, it's a wheat beer, which isn't something I'm into.  Having said that, it's not over the top, it's quite subtle and quite drinkable. Although chances are I wouldn't drink it!

Beer No.6 - Shepherd Neame Whitstable Bay
Another favourite of mine, it just gets better! The brewery says, "Whitstable Bay is a clean, refreshing beer crafted from organic ingredients, including Target hops and barley. Brewed to exacting Soil Association standards and approved by the Vegetarian Society, Whitstable Bay contains chalk filtered mineral water drawn from Shepherd Neame's artisean well. Andrew Jefford, describes it as 'a deep sunset gold colour, delicate hints of hedgerow-fresh organic hops...with a tangy malty flavour'."

The Independent says, "Organic Gem and Hallertau hops are imported from New Zealand to blend with English organic malted barley in England's oldest brewery. The result is a zesty, deeply refreshing beer with sappy malt, floral resinous hops and tart citrus fruit."

I say; One of my top 5 beers, alongside the previous beer, and one that I drink regularly. There is just so much flavour in here, there's a hoppy, herby, dopey smell to it, and it really ticks all the right boxes! Great any time of year, it's so refreshing, yet doesn't feel out of place being drunk on a cold, foggy night. It has a wonderful, wonderful smell to it. Top beer, well done!

Beer No.5 - Brakspear Oxford Gold
I love this beer. One of my favourites! The brewery says, "Craft brewed with organically grown ingredients, using Target & Goldings hops to provide a zesty aroma & fruity flavour."

The Independent says, "This is bottle fermented beer with a tart and tangy hop character from the English Goldings and Target varieties: complex and refreshing with hints of blood oranges and butterscotch, the latter from Brakspear's unique double drop fermentation system."

I say; Fantastic beer, so much going on. I've said before, but there's something about Oxfordshire beer. Major bitterness occuring, but floral flavours in there too. So refreshing, yet has so much more depth than a lager, and many bitters  as well. This is in my top 5 beers, I drink it regularly, at least weekly, so it was always going to get a good review!
